COMMODORES DAY / BIRTHDAY REPORT.

Ann shouted from the kitchen, "what do you want for tea?" I replied, "fruit and cream", "No cream, you will have to make do with Ice cream", "ok you open a tin of fruit and I will fetch the ice cream from the freezer". Opening the lid of the chest freezer all I could see were bags and bags of meat and three large salmon looking at me! Either we were opening a branch of Dewhurst or Commodores Day had arrived.

Friday evening came, with the same willing horses volunteering to put up our tented encampment on the Swan field. This year John Douse had borrowed a large Party Tent, thanks John it was just the job. The rest of the Gazebows were sited, to make a horseshoe shape.

Saturday, with most members arrived, the B-B-Q's were lit at five o'clock. Paul (Mr Pimms) and George (Just Julie) were our chefs for the evening, and a fantastic job they made of it. (A big thank you from Ann and yours truly) It didn't seem long before we were all lined up, ready to tuck into the food that had smelled so inviting. Later I wished the membership a Happy Birthday, followed by the arrival of the birthday cake. On behalf of the Club a big, big, thank you to Joan (Mr Pimms) for supplying the very large cake. We all sung Happy Birthday and raised our glasses to the Club. Following on we had two games of Stand up bingo with large cash prizes.

It's now Ten Thirty and the grand finale was about to start. Bob Ward, Alan and Dennis Hill were about to blow themselves up, or if things went to plan, provide thirty minutes of spectacular fireworks.
It was a very good show, the only way to end an eighteenth birthday. Looking forward to our twenty-first. Hope you all enjoyed it as much as Ann and I.
