We wondered at first, if we would be able to get all our boats on the 24 hour mooring, but by using the adjoining field and some double (and triple) mooring, at 6 o’clock on Saturday 28 boats were safely secured. It looked a picture, an excellent turn out! Everyone was in a happy mood except one unhappy couple (NOT club members) who thought we were making too much noise (as if we would). We were surprised to be told off for laughing and had to check our watches to make sure it was 3 o’clock in the afternoon and not 3 o’clock in the morning! The cause of all the hilarity was Blue Iris, Heclantis and our intrepid travellers who had just returned from foreign parts and as you know we are all models of good behaviour, but you DO have to catch up on all the news don’t you? I think everyone enjoyed the food at The Ferryman when we eventually got it, and The Tin Men were excellent as usual. Many thanks to our resident songsters for their rendering of ‘Stairway to Heaven’. This is the second time I’ve heard them perform, ‘what do you think club members, should we get a recording agent down to listen to them, maybe they could make a record’? It was very thoughtful of our foreign travellers to bring Roy Farman a present. His face was a picture when he received it. He’ll now be able to forecast the weather just by touching his seaweed.
