Kelmscot B-B-Q June 2000
Report from Bob Taylor

The
annual pre-fishing season Bar-B-Que was blessed with an excellent club turnout
and very reasonable weather for a change. No less than 34 boats turned up during
the event, and with guests and other members turning up by road almost 90 people
were there at one time. A sociable afternoon was followed by an even more sociable
evening! Despite a last minute change of venue to downstream of Kemscott (caused
by a large bull in the planned field and multiple wet cowpats) it was estimated
that nearly half a million pounds worth of club boats were moored along a quarter
of a mile of river bank. The three club Bar-B-Ques were just about coping with
demand, and the Commodore’s new `pressy’ was pressed into service to supplement
the club Gazebos. Due to the usual wonderful co-operation and assistance of
club members, the area was left clean and tidy afterwards. I must admit I am
always amazed at all our club do’s how every thing just happens, and that can
only be down to the members themselves. Long may it continue! Bob
