The Queens Jubilee weekend saw the traditional club Treasure Hunt. The weather was a bit on the dodgy side but twenty nine boats made it down to Oxford, many of them dressed with various flags, bunting, pictures of the queen etc. A lot of work had obviously gone into some of them and not a little ingenuity! Medals were awarded for the best dressed boats. It was a very close contest but our totally unbiased ex commodore who was co-erced in to the judging, awarded Tom and Ellie Richardson (Bilbo Baggins Too) third place (luv the blue wig Tom), narrowly beaten by Steve and Lynn Hatter (Tempted) who took second place. First place went to Roy and Sue (Baglady) for sheer inventivness, I suspect Roy's inflatable lady friend will need a bit of a service after her trip down the river on Baglady's bows!
Twenty three teams set out around Oxford to try to solve thirty nine clues with some of the answer sheets coming back a bit wet!
Highest number of points were Wild Thyme , Ella May and Pegasus VI all with 36 points while at the other end, the lowest were Callisto/Quackers, IvorySwan Uppers and Just Julie/Badger. all with 31.
After the tie break questions the winner was Wild Thyme and the lucky people setting the clues for next year will be Callisto/Quackers.
The only sour note to an otherwise great day was the theft of a video camera from the Commodores boat while it was moored at Oxford!
On the return trip about a dozen boats moored for the night at Bablock Hythe for a bit of 'Dodgem' racing at the fairground. Badger had the most bumps after taking on a co-driver
Low Flyer & Moppett II!
Many thanks go to Chris & Val (Low Flyer) and Dave & Grace (Moppett II) for setting the clues and making it once again a succesful and enjoyable day.(ed)
