FUN DAY JULY 10 2004

Silly season arrived at Radcot once again.

The usuall mayhem was in evidence for our annual FunDay which duly descended into the norm we have come to expect from club members!

More than 30 boats and crews were in attendance for the weekend, an impressive turn out for any event.

Marquees and barbies were all in place before the games broke out and a small amount of boat jumble appeared on table s for early inspection by bargain hunters.

The smaller games proved extremely popular again this year and seemed to organise themselves by people concentrating on one event at a time, withthe usual banter and mickey taking and attempts at cheating!

Horseshoes, Crown Darts, Putting and especially Oxfordshires own "Aunt Sally" were the centre of everyones attentions

Once again, Heather's conundrums bamboozled the already sozzled!! and volleyball took it's toll on muscles and the unfit!

The heavens opened at one stage (as per 2 years ago) and threatened proceedings but eventually cleared to allow possibly the most spectacular water folly the club has yet devised!

THE PONTOON RACE

This, for those not in attendance consisted of four plastic pontoon pods (E.A provided, Thanks Kevin) which were fastened together in a square with ropes attached fore and aft. The structure was placed in the back stream of the island and teams of four had to cross the stream and return to the island intact!

NO CHANCE

The most spectacular of these tems employed the logic of one 'Tom Richardson'

BAD MOVE TEAM

His plan involved forming a cross of all four bodies on top of the pods to aid stability. Unfortunately, the god of all things silly took over and tipped all and sundry into the drink!

WELL DONE TOM

The round the island race proved it's usual entertainment value and was won in spectacular fashion (and time) by the crew of 'Vanity' who ran well clear of the rest of the field.

Well done Shane and John Malpass

Our Friends from the R.N.L.I. came once again (I think they come for the entertainment!)

The Barbeques were duly lit so that various concoctions could be cremated to the usual low standard for our club!

The evening developed, as usual, into entertainment mode with this years show being provided by 'Pete Watkins' a more than able Welsh one man band! A more than popular choice.

Considering that some of the more riotous members were not in attendance this year (Moppetts Marauders), Fun Day once again proved to be a worthy winner for the club.

MANY THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR HARD WORK AND ENTHUSIASM ON THE DAY AND AT OTHER TIMES
